BUILDING A BRIGHTER FUTURE TOGETHER
Join us in our mission to educate, advocate and empower black children and families.

It’s Time for Our 4th Annual Winter Wraps Drive!
BCDI-Iowa is proud to once again support the students at King Elementary School through our Winter Wraps Drive! From November 1st through December 15th, we’ll be collecting new hats, gloves or mittens, and socks to help keep children warm and comfortable this winter.
A warm hat, a pair of gloves, and cozy socks may seem like small things—but for a child walking to school or playing outside at recess, they make all the difference. When children are warm, they can focus better, feel confident, and fully enjoy learning and play throughout the school day.
Here’s how you can help:
- Donate new winter hats, gloves/mittens, and socks by December 15th.
- Share our flyer and this opportunity with your friends, coworkers, and community networks—every share helps us reach more supporters!
- Contact us directly at bcdi.iowa@gmail.com for the donation drop-off location.
- Monetary donations will also be accepted, use the button on this page (PayPal) or pay by check (made payable to Black Child Development Institute of Iowa).
Together, we can ensure every student at King Elementary stays warm and ready to learn this winter. Thank you for being part of this caring community!
Reading Volunteers Needed
BCDI-Iowa is looking for volunteers to support reading literacy for students in Kindergarten through 3rd Grade at King Elementary. With your help, we can make a positive impact and increase reading proficiency for these students. If you can commit to just one hour, one day per week, we invite you to be a part of the solution and would love for you to join us!
The Voluntary Reading program will kick off on Monday, October 27th.
